About

Big Lake Multi-Family Campground occupies a scenic high-elevation setting at 9,100 feet in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona. The surrounding forest of ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, spruce, and aspen provides welcome shade, while open meadows offer mountain views. Summer temperatures stay pleasant and cool, providing respite from lower desert heat. The campground offers 22 double sites, over 20 individual sites, and two group sites accommodating 50 and 100 people respectively. It's the only campground in the Big Lake Recreation Area with full hookup sites, making it especially convenient for RV campers. Facilities include flush toilets, showers, and potable water. Bears frequent the area, so food storage rules are strictly enforced. Big Lake, a 450-acre lake just a short walk from camp, is one of Arizona's top trout fishing destinations. Rainbow, cutthroat, brook, and Apache trout are the primary species. Beyond fishing, the area offers hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, and wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the surrounding forest.
