Winfield Campground occupies a wooded shoreline on the Little River portion of J. Strom Thurmond Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Southeast. The 80-site campground is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and features 50-amp electric and water hookups at each site, along with picnic tables and fire ring/grill combos. Two bathhouses offer flush toilets and hot showers, supplemented by a vault toilet elsewhere in the campground. The campground includes a dump station, dumpsters for trash disposal, and a gated entrance with combination lock access after hours. A boat ramp and courtesy dock are available exclusively for registered campers, making this a prime spot for anglers targeting largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. A designated swimming beach with adjacent playground rounds out the family-friendly amenities. Mistletoe State Park lies nearby, offering additional hiking trails and nature programs. The surrounding lake and 1,000+ miles of shoreline support water skiing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing, with frequent sightings of bald eagles, wild turkeys, and migratory waterfowl.
