About

Amity Recreation Area is a popular day-use park operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the shores of J. Strom Thurmond Lake in Lincoln County, Georgia. The 70,000-acre lake and its 1,000 miles of shoreline provide excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing. Anglers can expect to find largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, and striped bass. The recreation area features three reservable group picnic shelters with electric hookups, each accommodating up to 50-92 guests. Additional facilities include a boat ramp, fishing pier, designated swimming beach, ball field, and playground. A mixed pine and hardwood forest covers the site, providing summer shade. Wildlife including bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, osprey, wild turkeys, and white-tailed deer are commonly spotted. This is a day-use area only with no overnight camping. Park hours are 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Augusta, Georgia is approximately 20 miles away.
