Mistletoe State Park

Open — Open year-round. Park gates open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Portions of the Cliatt Creek Trail and Rock Dam remain closed due to Hurricane Helene impacts, but all other trails and facilities are open. Some campsites are seasonal.

About

Mistletoe State Park encompasses 1,920 acres on the shores of 71,100-acre Clarks Hill Lake (also known as J. Strom Thurmond Lake), one of the Southeast's largest reservoirs. The park is renowned as one of the finest bass fishing destinations in the nation, with three boat ramps providing easy access to exceptional fishing waters. The campground occupies a scenic peninsula offering rare opportunities to view both sunrise and sunset over open water from the same location. The camping facilities include 93 tent, trailer, and RV campsites with water and electric hookups, and select sites offer full hookups with sewer. Sites range from 30 to 50 feet in length with both back-in and pull-through options available. Additional camping options include four walk-in tent sites, three backcountry campsites, one pioneer campground, and a tent cabin with electricity and water facing the lake. The park also features 10 fully equipped cottages on the lake, five of which are log cabins, and a fisherman's cabin with private dock. Beyond camping and fishing, the park offers miles of shaded nature trails including a 12-mile backpacking trail, a seasonal sandy beach for swimming, canoe rentals for overnight guests, and modern amenities including restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, and laundry facilities. The park hosts astronomy programs, concerts, and nature walks throughout the year. Some facilities were impacted by Hurricane Helene, with portions of the Cliatt Creek Trail and Rock Dam remaining closed, though all other trails are open.
