Hawe Creek Campground sits on the shoreline of J. Strom Thurmond Lake in McCormick County, South Carolina, just one mile from Dorn Sportfishing Facility, one of the largest in the Southeast. The 34 campsites are carefully placed along the lakeshore, surrounded by a mix of pine and hardwood trees providing ample shade and privacy. All sites include 30 or 50-amp electric hookups and water connections. The campground features two bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, a boat ramp with courtesy dock and nearby vault toilet, a dump station, and trash dumpsters. The 70,000-acre lake and over 1,000 miles of shoreline support fishing for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, and striped bass, as well as boating, water skiing, swimming, and kayaking. Wildlife is abundant, with regular sightings of southern bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, wild turkeys, and whitetail deer. Nearby attractions include Savannah Lakes Village for dining and shopping, and Hickory Knob State Park golf courses within five miles.
