About

Hawe Creek Campground is located on the expansive shores of J. Strom Thurmond Lake, offering 34 campsites nestled among mixed pine and hardwood forests with direct lake access. The campground features electric hookups at all sites, two bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, a dump station, and a boat launching ramp with courtesy dock. Located just one mile from the Dorn Sportfishing Facility, one of the largest in the Southeast, the campground serves as an ideal base for anglers targeting largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, and striped bass. The 70,000-acre lake and over 1,000 miles of shoreline provide exceptional opportunities for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Wildlife viewing is excellent, with regular sightings of southern bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, neo-tropical birds, wild turkeys, and white-tailed deer. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table, with gates opening at 7:00 a.m. and closing at 10:00 p.m. The campground is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and features a gatehouse with camp hosts. Nearby attractions include Hickory Knob State Park, Savannah Lakes Village, and Augusta National Golf Club.
