Closed — Currently closed for the season. Most facilities reopen April 28. The Deer Run beach, tables, and group shelter remain open year-round. The boat ramp and fishing pier are open year-round. Park hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Lake Springs Recreation Area is one of the most popular parks on J. Strom Thurmond Lake, a 70,000-acre reservoir with over 1,000 miles of shoreline. Located on Georgia State Highway 221 within 20 minutes of Augusta, this heavily wooded day-use area sits along the scenic lakeshore in a mixed pine and hardwood forest at 345 feet elevation. The recreation area features four group picnic shelters available for reservation, each equipped with water and electrical hookups. Additional amenities include flush and vault toilets, drinking water, a boat ramp with dock, fish cleaning station, playground, and a lookout tower. The 1.8-mile Lake Springs Loop Trail provides hiking opportunities within the park, while the 27-mile Bartram Trail stretches along the shoreline and through nearby Wildwood Park. Thurmond Lake provides some of the best fishing, hunting, and water sports in the southeastern United States. Anglers target largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, and striped bass. The large lake offers excellent conditions for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, and swimming. Wildlife is abundant, with visitors regularly spotting southern bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, wild turkeys, and whitetail deer. A $5 per vehicle day use fee is required for entry, payable by credit card only.
