About

Ridge Road Campground occupies a scenic peninsula on the Georgia side of J. Strom Thurmond Lake, one of the largest Corps of Engineers lakes in the Southeast with over 70,000 surface acres and 1,000 miles of shoreline. The campground features 63 sites equipped with water and 50-amp electric hookups on a mix of pull-through and back-in gravel pads shaded by pine and hardwood trees. Facilities include two bathhouses with flush toilets and showers, vault toilets near the boat ramp and playground, two dump stations, dumpsters, a swimming beach, playground, and fish cleaning station. A boat ramp provides direct lake access. Gates open at 7:00 AM and close at 10:00 PM. Turmond Lake offers some of the best fishing in the Southeast for largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. Water sports include skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, and swimming. The 27-mile Bartram Trail has a trailhead seven miles away at Keg Creek boat ramp. Wildlife includes southern bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, wild turkeys, and whitetail deer.
