About

Willow Campground is a small, intimate campground in the Bishop Creek drainage of Inyo National Forest, featuring just 8 campsites shaded by quaking aspen with willow thickets along the creek. Located at 9,000 feet elevation on South Lake Road, this primitive campground offers a peaceful retreat for tent campers, with RVs and trailers prohibited. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof food storage lockers at each site. No potable water is available on-site, though the nearby creek can be filtered or treated. The South Fork of Bishop Creek offers fishing opportunities for rainbow and brown trout. The Tyee Lakes trailhead is located near the campground, providing access to high-country hiking. This first-come, first-served campground operates seasonally with a 7-day maximum stay during peak summer months. The location provides convenient access to South Lake and other Bishop Creek Canyon recreation areas while maintaining a quieter atmosphere than busier campgrounds closer to the trailheads.

Directions

From Bishop, head west on State Route 168 (Line Street) for approximately 15 miles. Turn left on South Lake Road. The campground is on the left approximately 4 miles past Four Jeffrey Campground.
