About

Bishop Park Campground sits on the banks of the Middle Fork of Bishop Creek in Inyo National Forest, approximately 12 miles west of Bishop. At 8,400 feet elevation, this popular campground features 21 reservable sites, with many walk-in tent sites positioned directly along the creek. The campground's grassy lawns and streamside location make it a favorite among anglers and families. The Middle Fork of Bishop Creek is regularly stocked with rainbow, brown, brook, and Alpers trout, allowing campers to fish directly from their sites. Intake Lake II upstream provides additional fishing opportunities. The campground serves as a gateway to the John Muir and Inyo Wilderness areas, with access to numerous trailheads, alpine lakes, and glaciers. While not recommended for large RVs, a few sites can accommodate smaller rigs. The campground operates seasonally and is situated in active bear country, with bear-proof food storage boxes provided at each site. Bishop Park offers a serene setting for horseback riding, wildlife viewing, hiking, and fishing along one of the Eastern Sierra's premier creeks.
