About

Bishop Park Campground is a highly sought-after destination in the Bishop Creek recreation area of Inyo National Forest. Located at 8,400 feet on the Middle Fork of Bishop Creek, the campground features grassy lawns and 21 campsites, many of which are walk-in tent sites positioned right along the creek. The setting provides immediate access to fishing for rainbow, brown, brook, and Alpers trout from your campsite, with Intake Lake II offering additional angling opportunities just upstream. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the nearby John Muir and Inyo Wilderness areas. Multiple trailheads provide access to glaciers, alpine lakes, and backcountry terrain. Wildlife viewing and horseback riding are popular activities in the area. Facilities include flush toilets, potable water, fire rings with cooking grills, picnic tables, and bear-proof food storage lockers. As an active bear area, all food and scented items must be stored in the provided bear boxes. The campground is not recommended for large RVs due to limited parking and site configurations, though a few sites can accommodate smaller rigs.
