About
Four Jeffrey Campground is a large, heavily-used campground located along the scenic South Fork of Bishop Creek in Inyo National Forest. Sitting in a valley between Grouse Mountain and Table Mountain at 8,100 feet elevation, the campground features 106 campsites, some shaded and some in the open, with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The South Fork Bishop Creek runs through the area and is stocked with rainbow, brown, brook, and Alpers trout, making it a prime destination for anglers. A fish cleaning station is available on-site for camper convenience. The campground provides access to several trailheads leading into the John Muir Wilderness. The Tyee Lakes Trailhead is less than a mile up the road and offers epic views of the Inconsolable Range and the peaks surrounding South Lake. Hikers and horseback riders can explore pristine alpine lakes, glaciers, and high Sierra terrain. The area is an active bear zone, and bear-proof food storage containers are provided at each site and must be used. Four Jeffrey operates on a mixed reservation and first-come, first-served basis. The campground typically opens for the fishing season around the last weekend of April and operates through fall. Amenities include flush toilets, potable water from hand pumps, picnic tables at each site, and fire pits. The maximum stay is 14 days, and dogs must be leashed at all times in the developed recreation area.
