About
Mountain Glen Campground sits in a scenic aspen and willow grove along Bishop Creek, about 15 miles west of Bishop on the South Lake Road. This intimate 5-site campground offers a quieter alternative to the larger campgrounds in Bishop Creek Canyon and makes an excellent base camp for wilderness trips into the high Sierra. The campground provides vault toilets, picnic tables, and bear boxes at each site, but campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on site. Being in active bear country, proper food storage is mandatory. The small size and limited parking make this campground unsuitable for large RVs. The campground operates seasonally from late spring through fall, with exact opening dates dependent on snowpack and road conditions. Sites are available first-come first-served with a 7-day maximum stay. The quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Directions
From Bishop, go west on State Route 168 (Line Street) approximately 15 miles. Turn left at the junction of South Lake Road. The campground is on the left approximately 3 miles past Four Jeffrey Campground.
