Willis Knob Horse Camp sits in the remote northern Georgia mountains within the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, near the Georgia-South Carolina border. This beloved equestrian hideaway caters specifically to horseback riders, featuring sites equipped with electric and water hookups, hitching highlines, a horse watering station, picnic tables, lantern posts, and campfire rings with grills. Accessible vault toilets serve the campground. The campground provides direct access to outstanding trail systems. The 15-mile Willis Knob Trail connects with South Carolina's 12.5-mile Rocky Gap Trail (also called Whetstone Horse Trail), combining for 27.5 miles of scenic riding across deeply dissected ridges descending into the Chattooga River corridor. The nearby 10.7-mile Chattooga River Trail and 37-mile Bartram Trail offer hiking-only options. Fishing opportunities abound in the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River, though a Georgia fishing license with trout stamp is required. The campground operates on a reservation-only basis through Recreation.gov. A gate security code is provided with your confirmation email for entry. Quiet hours run from 10pm to 6pm, and stays are limited to 14 days within any 30-day period. No dump station is available on-site; the nearest is at Black Rock State Park in Mountain City.

From Clayton, Georgia, take Warwoman Road east for about 12 miles. Turn right on Willis Knob Road (Forest Service Road 157) and continue for 2 miles to the campground on the left.
