About

Long Bottom Ford is a free primitive campground situated along the scenic Chattooga River in the Andrew Pickens Ranger District of Sumter National Forest. Also commonly known as Low Water Bridge Campground, this quiet riverside site offers a rustic camping experience with basic amenities including vault toilets, trash cans, and fire rings at each site. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations or fees required. Stays are limited to 14 consecutive days. There is no potable water on site; campers must bring their own supply or treat water from nearby sources. Saddle, pack, and draft animals are not permitted at any campsite. The location on the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River makes this an excellent base for fishing, tubing, and boating. Exercise caution near waterfalls in the area, as rocks can be dangerous to climb.

Directions

From Walhalla, SC, follow State Hwy 28W for 15 miles, then turn left on Low Water Bridge Rd. The campsites are located along the road opposite the Chattooga River, approximately 0.5 miles on the left.
