About

Cassidy Bridge Primitive Camp offers a secluded group camping experience in the Andrew Pickens Ranger District of the Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests. Located on the banks of the Chauga River in Oconee County, the camp sits in a wooded setting in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Georgia border. The facility has one group site with vault toilets and space for RV parking. This is a true primitive camp: no potable water is available, and campers are responsible for packing out all trash (a recycling center is located 6 miles away). The campground is accessed through a locked gate; the combination is provided upon reservation confirmation. Popular activities include big-game and turkey hunting, fishing on the Chauga River, hiking, and horseback riding. The Chattooga River with its whitewater rapids and commercial outfitters is within a 15-minute drive, making this an ideal base camp for paddlers.
