About

Cassidy Bridge Hunt Camp is a primitive group campground located in a scenic wooded setting along the banks of the Chauga River, one of the more popular fishing streams in the Andrew Pickens Ranger District of Sumter National Forest. The Chattooga Wild and Scenic River is also a short drive away, offering additional recreation opportunities. The campground operates on a dual-access system: during big-game hunting season (October 1 - December 31) and turkey season (April 1-30), it opens free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Outside these hunting seasons, the camp is available exclusively through group reservations at $30 per night plus a $10 reservation fee, bookable up to 12 months in advance via Recreation.gov. Facilities are basic, with a vault toilet and RV parking area. There is no potable water on site; campers must treat or filter water from nearby sources. The campground is secured by a locked gate, and the combination is provided upon reservation confirmation. Visitors are responsible for packing out their own trash, with the nearest recycling center approximately six miles away.
