About

Williamson Campground is one of the larger developed campgrounds in the Lostine River Canyon, located within the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The campground is situated along the Wild and Scenic Lostine River under a canopy of pine and fir trees, providing welcome shade during summer months. With 13 total sites, including 8 that accommodate tents or trailers and 5 designated tent-only sites, the campground offers variety in camping experiences. All sites are positioned below the campground road, and some of the most sought-after sites sit directly beside the river. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and parking space. Vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is provided on-site. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for fishing the Lostine River and exploring the adjacent Eagle Cap Wilderness, which requires a free self-issued permit for entry. The setting draws moderate use throughout the season, with riverside sites filling up quickly on weekends and holidays. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
