About
Canyon Forest Camp sits along the Wild and Scenic Lostine River in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, offering a quiet, rustic camping experience in a cool fir and pine forest. With only three campsites, the campground provides a secluded atmosphere that appeals to those seeking solitude in the Wallowa Mountains. The camp serves as a popular staging area for backpackers heading into the Eagle Cap Wilderness and day hikers exploring the scenic Lostine Canyon. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with a vault toilet available. There is no potable water at the campground, though seasonal water may be available across the road at the Lostine Guard Station. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is also reservable through Recreation.gov. The gravel access roads are suitable for passenger vehicles, though the small site size and rustic nature make this campground best suited for tent camping and smaller vehicles.
Directions
From Enterprise, Oregon travel northwest on State Highway 82 to Lostine. In Lostine, go 7 miles south on the Lostine River Road to the Forest boundary. Lostine River Road becomes Forest Road 8210.
