About
Walla Walla Forest Camp is one of several small campgrounds nestled along the Wild and Scenic Lostine River corridor in northeastern Oregon's Wallowa Mountains. The campground sits at roughly 5,600 feet elevation in a shaded forest of fir and pine trees, providing a cool respite during summer months. With only four campsites, it offers a quiet, uncrowded atmosphere ideal for those seeking solitude. The campground serves as a base for exploring the Eagle Cap Wilderness, with trailheads nearby providing access to alpine lakes, meadows, and rugged peaks. Fishing in the Lostine River is a popular activity, as is wildlife viewing and photography. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with parking space. Vault toilets are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is available on site. Access is via Forest Road 8210, a gravel surface road that follows the scenic Lostine Canyon. The road can be rough in places and is not recommended for low-clearance vehicles. Due to the narrow gravel road and small site sizes, this campground is best suited for tent camping and smaller RVs or trailers.
Directions
From Enterprise, Oregon travel northwest on State Highway 82 to Lostine. In Lostine, go 7 miles south on Lostine River Road to the forest boundary. The road becomes Forest Road 8210. Continue 6 more miles up the Lostine Canyon to the campground on the right side of the road. The forest roads are gravel surface.
