About
William J. "Billy Joe" Rish Recreation Area is a unique 100-acre Florida State Park dedicated to providing barrier-free recreation for people with disabilities, their families, and caregivers. Located on Cape San Blas, the park stretches from the Gulf of Mexico across the peninsula to St. Joseph Bay, offering diverse coastal experiences through an extensive network of accessible boardwalks and ramps. The park features two family-style cabins designed for accessibility, each sleeping up to five guests with two bedrooms, zero-entry showers, full kitchen, and outdoor propane grill. An Olympic-sized 4-foot-deep swimming pool with wheelchair ramp and chair lift provides accessible aquatic recreation. Beach wheelchairs, motorized beach wheelchairs, and boardwalk scooters are available for guests. Access to a mile of sugar-white sand beach is via scenic boardwalks, and an underground tunnel connects the Gulf side to the bayside, where a canoe and kayak launch provides access to St. Joseph Bay. Day-use visitors of all abilities are welcome, with day passes at $6 per vehicle. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset, 365 days a year.
