About

Tate's Hell State Forest Deep Creek Primitive Campsites provide a true backcountry experience in the heart of Florida's panhandle. The campground consists of five reservable sites spread across three separate locations: Deep Creek (site 53), Doyle Creek (site 52), and Whiskey George (site 54), plus two hunt camp sites. Each primitive site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill, with Deep Creek and Doyle Creek sites situated directly along their namesake creeks. The forest spans over 200,000 acres of flatwoods, swamps, and pine savannas, offering exceptional opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching, and wildlife photography. The sites are accessed via forest roads off SR 65, approximately 23-26 miles west of Carrabelle. All garbage must be packed out, and campers should bring their own water supply as none is available on site.

Directions

From SR 65, turn onto Buck Siding Road and travel about 0.5 mile. Keep right at the fork onto Deep Creek Road. The campsite is approximately 1.7 miles ahead on the right. Sites are 23-26 miles (35-45 minute drive) west of Carrabelle, FL.
