About
T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park stretches 20 miles into the Gulf of Mexico on Florida's Cape San Blas, offering one of the nation's top-rated beaches and a premier camping destination. The Shady Pines Campground features 36 standard RV sites and 10 tent-only sites, all with electric and water hookups. RV sites include sewer connections, making it suitable for big rigs and extended stays. Two modern bathhouses provide showers and restrooms throughout the campground. The park's location between the Gulf of Mexico and St. Joseph Bay provides exceptional opportunities for swimming, fishing, shelling, snorkeling, and boating. Ten miles of white sandy beaches and towering dunes offer spectacular sunsets on the Gulf side, while calmer bay waters are ideal for kayaking and paddleboarding. The park serves as vital habitat for beach-nesting shorebirds, sea turtles, and the endangered St. Andrews beach mouse. Campers enjoy access to three nature trails, including the half-mile Maritime Hammock Nature Trail and the 1,700-acre Wilderness Preserve with 6 miles of backcountry trails. The on-site Scallop Cove Too concession offers food, supplies, and equipment rentals. The park also features a boat ramp with deep-water access to St. Joseph Bay, fish cleaning stations, and multiple picnic pavilions. With fishing for speckled trout, red drum, and flounder, plus popular scalloping in summer months, this park combines beach camping with excellent angling opportunities.
