About
Wright Lake Campground occupies a scenic ridge in the Apalachicola Savannahs within the Apalachicola National Forest. The 18 nonelectric campsites are arranged along one portion of the lakeshore in a beautiful longleaf pine forest where wiregrass and palmetto cover the forest floor. Each site includes a picnic table, grill, fire ring, tent pad, and lantern post. The campground bathhouse features flush toilets and hot showers, with drinking water available from faucets and a dump station on site. The clear, spring-fed lake offers swimming from a white sand beach in the day-use area, along with fishing and non-motorized boating. Two hiking trails depart from the recreation area: a short 0.2-mile nature loop around the lake and a longer 4.6-mile interpretive trail that winds through several different ecosystems including swamps and savannahs. Nearby Hickory Landing provides boat ramp access to Owl Creek and the Apalachicola River, known for sport fishing and paddling. The campground operates seasonally from October 1 through May 31, remaining closed during the summer months. Quiet hours are enforced from 10pm to 6am. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, though some sites may be available first-come, first-served.
