About
Wright Lake Campground is a quiet lakefront recreation area nestled in the longleaf pine forests of Apalachicola National Forest, approximately 25 miles from the Gulf of Mexico in Florida's Forgotten Coast. The campground features 18 non-electric campsites arranged around a spring-fed lake, each with a picnic table, grill, tent pad, fire ring, and lantern post. A campground host is available year-round. The clear lake offers excellent swimming from a white-sand beach, fishing, and non-motorized boating opportunities. Hikers can explore a 4.6-mile trail winding through diverse ecosystems including longleaf savannahs, wiregrass prairies, and wetlands, plus a short 0.2-mile loop around the lake. The area is particularly notable for its wildflowers and pitcher plants that bloom in late March and early April. The campground provides flush toilets and hot showers in a comfort station. Nearby Hickory Landing offers boat access to Owl Creek and the Apalachicola River for paddling and sport fishing. The Apalachee Savannahs Scenic Byway and historic Prospect Bluff are also within easy reach. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov.
