About
Deep Creek Campground is a quiet, primitive campground nestled among large ponderosa pine trees with views across the Crooked River to beautiful Western larch trees. Though the drive is long from either Prineville or Paulina, access is paved most of the way. The campground offers a serene setting ideal for those seeking solitude in the Ochoco National Forest. The North Fork Crooked River provides fishing opportunities, with regulations allowing flies and lures only from the third Saturday in May through October 31, with a two-trout daily limit (8-inch minimum). While no formal hiking trails exist at the campground, nearby spur roads offer opportunities to explore additional scenery on foot. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets and picnic tables at each site. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. RVs and trailers can be accommodated on the wide loop road and mostly flat parking spurs, but there are no hookups. Expect the campground to fill during hunting season and holidays.
Directions
From Prineville: Head east on Highway 26 for 15 miles, turn right onto County Road 123 and continue 8 miles, stay straight at the junction to merge onto Forest Service Road 42, then continue 23 miles to the campground on your right.
