About

Located in a serene setting among large ponderosa pine trees, Deep Creek Campground offers a peaceful retreat along the Crooked River in Ochoco National Forest. The campground provides views across the river to beautiful Western larch trees, creating a picturesque mountain environment. While it requires a long drive to reach, access is straightforward with paved roads most of the way from both east and west approaches. The campground lacks official hiking trails in the immediate vicinity, but visitors can explore nearby Forest Service spur roads on foot to experience additional scenery and wildlife. Fishing in the Crooked River can be productive depending on the season and conditions. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit, and vault toilets are available. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Due to its remote location and quality camping spots, Deep Creek Campground tends to fill up during hunting season and major holidays. The area is subject to winter range closures from December through early May to protect deer and elk during winter months. Campers should note the 14-day stay limit and bring their own drinking water, as potable water is not available on site.
