Wildhorse Crossing Campground

Open

Open for the 2026 season. The campground operates May through November as weather and conditions allow. First-come, first-served only with no reservations. No potable water available.

About

Wildhorse Crossing Campground occupies a scenic spot in the Owyhee Canyon along the banks of the Owyhee River, a willow-lined trout stream in the remote northeastern corner of Nevada. At 6,000 feet elevation, the campground provides access to quality fishing opportunities both in the river and at nearby Wildhorse Reservoir to the south. The campground features 19 sites with vault toilets and picnic tables, though campers must bring their own drinking water. Horse and pack animals are permitted, making this a useful staging area for backcountry trips. The surrounding landscape offers extensive OHV riding on two-track roads, mountain biking, and hiking opportunities in the high desert terrain. This is a primitive, first-come-first-served campground with no hookups or reservations. The $5 nightly fee can be paid with cash or check, and Interagency Senior/Access pass holders receive a 50% discount on single sites.
