About

Wildhorse Crossing Campground is located in the scenic Owyhee Canyon along the Mountain City Highway north of Wildhorse Reservoir. The campground sits directly on the Owyhee River, a trout stream lined with willows and native brushes, offering excellent fishing opportunities. With 19 campsites, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site, this campground provides basic amenities in a remote high desert setting at 6,000 feet elevation. The area is popular for OHV recreation, with numerous two-track and dirt roads ideal for mountain biking and hiking. The campground is managed by the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Campers should come prepared with their own water, as none is available on-site, and be ready to pay the $5 per night fee in cash or check.
