Pavlak Campground offers a rustic, back-to-basics camping experience in one of Nevada's most remote regions. Located approximately 3 miles south of the historic mining town of Jarbidge within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, this small free campground provides a primitive basecamp for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The campground sits along the Jarbidge River at approximately 6,600 feet elevation, surrounded by rugged canyon scenery. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations required. Amenities are minimal, consisting of vault toilets and picnic tables, but no potable water is available so campers must bring their own supply. The remote location and basic facilities attract adventurous campers seeking solitude and access to excellent fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and off-highway vehicle opportunities. The site accommodates pack animals, making it suitable for horseback riding adventures into the backcountry. Jarbidge's extreme isolation and high elevation mean the campground operates seasonally, generally from June through October as weather and road conditions allow. Winter snow typically closes access from November through May. The nearby town of Jarbidge offers limited services including a small store and restaurant.
