About

Wild Horse State Recreation Area Campground is located on the shores of Wild Horse Reservoir in northeastern Nevada, approximately 70 miles north of Elko. The reservoir and surrounding high desert landscape provide a striking setting for camping, with opportunities to spot pronghorn, mule deer, and elk. The park operates year-round, making it one of the few Nevada state park campgrounds accessible in all seasons. The campground features 34 sites, each equipped with a picnic table, shade ramada, fire pit, and camp pad. Pull-through sites accommodate larger RVs. Restrooms and showers are available year-round, while centrally located water faucets and the dump station operate during summer months only. No hookups are available at any site. Summer activities include fishing, boating via the boat ramp, swimming, and hiking on adjacent public lands. Winter brings ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and ice skating when conditions permit. Reservations are available through ReserveNevada.com, with a 14-day stay limit per 30-day period.
