About
Wilderness Road State Park, located in Lee County near the Cumberland Gap, provides three picnic shelters for day-use rental. These covered facilities are ideal for family reunions, group picnics, and special events. Shelter 1 and Shelter 2 each accommodate 48 guests under the covered area, with additional overflow space in surrounding picnic areas. Shelter 3 is the largest, seating 60 guests under cover, and features a built-in fireplace for cooler weather gatherings. All three shelters are equipped with charcoal grills, picnic tables, a water spigot, and two electrical outlets. The facilities are universally accessible. Reservations are made through Virginia State Parks reservation system or by calling the Customer Service Center. The park itself offers numerous attractions including the reconstructed Martin's Station frontier fort, hiking trails, trout fishing on Indian Creek, an ADA-compliant playground, sand volleyball court, and horseshoe pits.
