About
Indian Mountain State Park demonstrates how environmental reclamation can transform a former strip mine into a scenic recreational destination. Located in the Cumberland Mountains within the city limits of Jellico, the 200-acre park sits just off Interstate 75, about an hour north of Knoxville, making it a convenient stopover for travelers.
The campground offers 47 paved sites accommodating both tents and RVs, each equipped with water and electric hookups (20, 30, and 50 amp), a picnic table, grill, and fire ring. Five sites include sewer hookups. A centrally located modern bathhouse provides flush restrooms and hot showers, and a dump station is available. Sites overlook or sit near the main lake, where visitors can fish for bluegill, largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish, or rent paddle boats, kayaks, and paddleboards during warmer months.
Several trails wind through the park, including the paved one-mile Indian Mountain Lake Trail. Additional amenities include basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoes, a playground, and reservable picnic shelters. The camp store sells certified heat-treated firewood seasonally. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with geese, beavers, and deer frequently spotted.
