About

Big Ridge State Park Campground sits on 3,687 acres along the southern shore of TVA's Norris Lake in the Appalachian Ridge-and-Valley region of Union County, Tennessee. Developed in the 1930s by the Tennessee Valley Authority and Civilian Conservation Corps, this heavily forested park offers 50 RV and tent campsites with modern amenities including water and 50-amp electrical hookups. Each site features a paved slip with soft gravel pad, picnic table, and grill, accommodating units up to 35 feet. The campground provides three bathhouses with restrooms and hot showers, though two bathhouses close during the off-season from November through March. A dump station is available for RV campers. For those seeking a more primitive experience, three designated backcountry campsites are accessible via the park's 15+ miles of hiking trails, each with rock fire rings. The camp store operates seasonally, and firewood is available for purchase onsite. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance through the Tennessee State Parks system.

Directions

From I-75 exit 122, take Hwy. 61 east for approximately 12 miles. The park entrance is on the left, located between the cities of Andersonville and Maynardville.
