About
Big Ridge State Park Campground is nestled in the Appalachian Ridge and Valley region of Union County, Tennessee, approximately 30 minutes north of Knoxville. The campground occupies a scenic location on Big Ridge Lake, a 49-acre lake that connects to the larger Norris Lake system via a canal. The 50 campsites accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs, with each site featuring water and 50-amp electrical hookups, a paved slip, gravel pad, picnic table, and grill.
The campground has three bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, though only one remains open during the off-season from November through March. A dump station is available for RV waste disposal. Sites can accommodate units up to 35 feet, with some sites accepting units up to 45 feet. Three pull-through sites are available, and ADA-accessible sites are located at the front of the campground.
Big Ridge State Park spans 3,687 acres and offers extensive recreational opportunities including over 15 miles of hiking trails, swimming, fishing, and seasonal boat rentals. The park's rustic character and proximity to Norris Lake make it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a mix of water activities and woodland exploration.
