Wild River Group Campground is a primitive tent-only camping area within Wild River State Park, situated along the beautiful St. Croix River in east-central Minnesota. The campground features nine group sites, each designed to accommodate up to 18 people, making it ideal for youth groups, family reunions, and other organized gatherings. The primitive setting offers vault toilets but no showers or electrical hookups, providing an authentic backcountry group camping experience. Wild River State Park spans 18 miles along the St. Croix River and attracts visitors year-round for camping, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, interpretive programs, and winter activities including cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The park's diverse landscape and extensive trail system offer excellent opportunities for nature observation and outdoor recreation. Group campers can enjoy the park's natural beauty while having access to organized camping facilities designed specifically for larger parties. Reservations are required for all campsites in Minnesota state parks and can be made through the state reservation system. The group campground provides a more secluded and primitive experience compared to the park's main campground, which features modern amenities. Each site includes basic amenities for group camping in a natural setting.

Directions

From Center City, Minnesota, head north on Highway 95 for approximately 14 miles. Turn right onto Park Trail and continue for about 3 miles to reach Wild River State Park. Follow signs within the park to the Group Campground.
