About

Interstate South Campground sits within Interstate State Park, Wisconsin's oldest state park established in 1900 along the picturesque St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. The park is known for its dramatic river gorge called the Dalles of the St. Croix and features unique glacial potholes and stunning cliff formations. The South campground offers rustic family campsites, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Unlike the North campground, facilities here are more primitive with vault toilets and no shower facilities on-site, though registered campers can access showers at the North campground. This campground appeals to those seeking a more back-to-basics camping experience with beautiful natural surroundings. During the camping season from May through mid-November, the campground is accessible by vehicle for RVs, campers, and tent camping. In winter, from November 15 through April 30, the South campground transitions to hike-in tent camping only with parking available outside the campground gate. All campsites require advance reservations, which can be made up to 11 months ahead. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities including hiking trails, rock climbing, fishing, and winter activities like cross-country skiing.
