About

Wild River State Park's backpack campsites offer primitive camping along the beautiful St. Croix River corridor in east-central Minnesota. The park encompasses 18 miles of riverfront and features a 35-mile trail system that connects the backcountry sites. These walk-in sites are positioned at least a half mile from parking areas, providing a secluded wilderness experience for hikers, paddlers, and cyclists. Each backpack site includes a tent pad and fire ring. Primitive toilet facilities are available, though campers should be prepared to carry water or plan routes to designated water sources. The sites offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and access to the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. The park also features a visitor center with exhibits, a ranger station, and interpretive programs. For those seeking less primitive options, the main campground offers 94 drive-in sites and six camper cabins available year-round.
