About

Whitehead Landing is a rustic campground and boat launch situated along a tributary of the Ochlockonee River in Florida's Apalachicola National Forest. The area provides drive-up camping sites suitable for both tents and RVs, with each site equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. A concrete boat ramp offers access to the river for fishing and boating. This is a primitive camping area with vault toilets but no potable water, showers, or utility hookups. Campers should bring their own drinking water. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Visitors should be aware that the access road to the boat ramp is frequently underwater, which can make the ramp inaccessible during certain periods. The site also functions as a hunt camp during general gun season, so non-hunters should camp with awareness of this status.
