About

Located in Tate's Hell State Forest between the Apalachicola and Ochlockonee rivers, the Womack Creek Primitive Campsites offer a true wilderness camping experience across six dispersed locations. The sites are positioned along Loop Road, Nicks Road Landing, and Log Cabin Road, approximately 10 miles southwest of Sopchoppy. These primitive campsites accommodate both tents and RVs, though they lack all modern amenities including electricity, water, and restrooms. Each site is equipped with basic camping amenities: a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. The Loop Road site features a boat launch, while Nicks Road Landing provides direct creek access, and the Log Cabin Road sites offer access to a larger area with river launch capabilities. The forest encompasses over 202,437 acres of diverse natural communities including wet prairies, flatwoods, strand swamps, and bottomland forests, creating habitat for indigenous wildlife and plant species. Tate's Hell State Forest offers 35 miles of rivers, streams, and creeks ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing with a valid license. The forest is part of the Florida Scenic Trail and Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, making it a prime destination for hikers, bird watchers, and photographers seeking solitude in Florida's panhandle wilderness.
