About

White Pine South Group Camp is one of two group campsites located along Avery Creek in the lush forests of the Appalachian Mountains within Pisgah National Forest. Situated at 2,600 feet elevation, the campground is surrounded by mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls, and slopes thickly forested with hardwoods. The group camping area sits adjacent to Avery Creek and near the beautiful Davidson River. This walk-in tent camping facility accommodates families, scout troops, and other groups of up to 25 people. After parking in the designated lot, campers walk across a bridge to reach the campground entrance. The site is equipped with picnic tables, vault toilets, lantern posts, and campfire rings with grills. Campers must pack out their own trash. The forest is known for its extensive hiking and mountain biking trail systems, several of which are easily accessible from the campground. Avery Creek and the Davidson River offer excellent trout fishing opportunities. The small town of Brevard is nearby with various amenities and services, while Asheville is approximately an hour away and features numerous cultural attractions, art galleries, shops, and restaurants.
