Kuykendall Group Camp offers a cozy mountain camping experience for large groups in the Pisgah National Forest of western North Carolina. Situated at 2,600 feet elevation along Kuykendall Creek, the single group site provides a shaded camping area suitable for both tents and RVs. The surrounding Appalachian Mountains feature mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls, and slopes thickly forested with hardwoods. The campground is equipped with essential amenities including picnic tables, vault toilets, lantern posts, campfire rings with grills, and potable drinking water. Groups can relax in the woods listening to the creek, explore numerous hiking trails, visit crystal clear waterfalls, or fish for trout in the creek and nearby lakes. The area offers ample opportunities for picnicking, scenic driving, swimming, and mountain biking. Located just 4 miles from the town of Brevard and approximately one hour from Asheville, the campground provides convenient access to cultural attractions, shops, and restaurants while maintaining a secluded forest atmosphere. Visitors should note that creek crossing is required on the access road; heavy rains may temporarily make crossing difficult and a four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle is recommended. The campground features gated access with codes provided upon reservation.

Directions

From Asheville, take State Highway 280 south to Brevard. At the junction of U.S. Highway 276/64/280, follow Highway 64 west through Brevard to Cathy's Creek Road/Forest Road 471. Turn right and go 1.25 miles to the campground entrance.
