About
Davidson River Campground is a popular established campground situated at 2,150 feet elevation in Pisgah National Forest, surrounded by mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls, and slopes covered with hardwoods and conifers. The 161 campsites are distributed across eight loops (Sycamore, Oak, Apple, Dogwood, Laurel, Poplar, Hemlock, and Riverbend), with many sites adjacent to the beautiful Davidson River. Each campsite features a picnic table, tent pad, lantern post, and campfire ring with grill. The campground provides modern amenities including flush toilet restrooms and hot showers in each loop, potable water, and a dump station. Select sites offer electric hookups. Firewood ($10/bundle) and ice ($5/bag) are available for purchase on-site. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out is at noon. Generators are permitted up to 4 hours daily between 8 AM and 8 PM, except in the Poplar Loop. The surrounding area offers outstanding recreation opportunities. The Davidson River provides excellent trout fishing as well as tubing and swimming. Hikers can access the 12.3-mile Art Loeb Trail, 3.7-mile North Slope Trail, and various other routes directly from the campground.
