About

White Oak Campground is one of four campgrounds at historic Douthat State Park, a National Register of Historic Places site built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The campground offers 31 mostly shaded sites with gravel pads suitable for RVs up to 40 feet or tents. Each site is equipped with water and 30-amp electrical service, a picnic table, grill for cooking or campfires, and lantern post. All equipment must be placed within the site's gravel borders. The campground includes a bathhouse with hot showers and a dump station for RV waste disposal. Situated in the breathtaking Allegheny Mountains, White Oak Campground provides an ideal base for exploring Douthat State Park's abundant recreational opportunities. The park features more than 43 miles of wooded trails for hiking and mountain biking, ranging from easy to difficult. A 50-acre lake stocked with rainbow, brown, and brook trout offers excellent fishing, while the sandy swimming beach operates from May through October. The park also features boat rentals during summer months, interpretive programs, historic cabins viewable throughout the park, and a camp store with supplies and limited groceries. Important access note: A narrow low-water bridge leads to White Oak Campground. This bridge can flood and become impassable during periods of high water. Campers should be aware of weather conditions and water levels when planning their visit. The campground operates year-round, though water service at individual sites is unavailable from November through March due to freezing temperatures. Pets are welcome throughout the campground. Two vehicles per campsite are permitted in addition to the camping unit; extra vehicles must park in overflow areas with applicable parking fees.
