White Oak Campground

Open

Open for the 2026 season. White Oak Campground operates April through October; water is unavailable at individual sites from November through March due to freezing. Reservations available up to 11 months in advance through Virginia State Parks.

About

White Oak Campground sits within Douthat State Park, one of Virginia's original six state parks built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The campground offers 31 mostly shaded sites suitable for both RVs (up to 40 feet) and tents, each with gravel pads and parking for tow or towed vehicles. Sites feature water and 30-amp electric hookups, fire pits with grills, picnic tables, and lantern posts. The campground shares a bathhouse with showers and has access to a dump station. ADA-accessible sites and bathhouse facilities are available. Campers should note the narrow low-water bridge leading to the campground, which can become impassable during flooding. Firewood is available for purchase at the park; outside firewood is prohibited. Douthat State Park surrounds a 50-acre lake stocked with trout and offers over 40 miles of hiking trails through the Alleghany Highlands. The park provides swimming, fishing, boat rentals, and cabin accommodations.

Directions

From I-64, take Exit 27 (Clifton Forge). Follow Route 629 north for approximately 5 miles to the park entrance at 14239 Douthat State Park Road, Millboro, VA 24460.
