About

Lakeside Campground sits along the shores of Douthat Lake within one of Virginia's most scenic and historic state parks. This campground offers 19 RV or tent sites with gravel pads, electric hookups (both 30 and 50 amp service), and water at each site. The campground can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet in length with parking for tow or towed vehicles, and features a bathhouse with flush toilets and hot showers, plus a convenient dump station. The campground's lakeside location provides direct access to the park's 50-acre lake, stocked with rainbow, brown, and brook trout, as well as largemouth bass, sunfish, and catfish. Each campsite includes a picnic table, grill for cooking or campfires, and lantern post. Two vehicles per campsite are permitted in addition to the camping unit. Douthat State Park, opened in 1936, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its influential park design created by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The park offers over 40 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and bridle trails, a sandy swimming beach, boat rentals, and numerous interpretive programs. Located in the breathtaking Allegheny Mountains, the park provides a traditional family camping experience amid Virginia's mountain scenery.
