About

Located in Sierra National Forest near North Fork, Whisky Falls Campground offers a remote camping experience with 14 campsites surrounded by pine trees. At approximately 5,500 feet elevation, the campground provides a peaceful mountain setting and serves as a base for visiting the nearby 40-foot Whisky Falls. Access to the campground requires traveling on unpaved forest roads, including Forest Road 8S70 from North Fork via CA 233. The roads can be rough and are subject to seasonal closures due to snow. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees, no reservations, and no hookups. Facilities are basic, with vault toilets provided but no potable water or trash service. Campers must bring all necessary water and pack out all trash. Despite its rustic nature, the USFS notes this as a heavily used campground, particularly during the summer months. Each site typically includes a fire pit and table for camper use.

Directions

From North Fork, travel north on CA 233, then follow Forest Road 8S70 to the campground. Roads are unpaved and can be rough.
