About
Whiskers Campground sits along the scenic North Fork of Willow Creek in California's Sierra National Forest, east of Bass Lake in Madera County. This primitive Forest Service campground provides a quiet retreat with light usage, making it ideal for campers seeking solitude away from the more developed Bass Lake recreation areas. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets and garbage service at the entrance, though campers must bring their own water as none is available on site. Sites accommodate a maximum of 6 people each. Access requires navigating Central Camp Road (6S42), an unimproved dirt road approximately 4 miles from Bass Lake that is not maintained for low clearance vehicles. This is designated bear country, so proper food storage is essential. The maximum vehicle length is 20 feet, making this campground unsuitable for large RVs or trailers.
Directions
Take Highway 41 north from Fresno to Oakhurst. Turn right on Road 222 and travel to the east end of Bass Lake. Turn left on Central Camp Road (6S42) and travel approximately 4 miles to the campground. Note: 6S42 is an unimproved dirt road not suitable for low clearance vehicles.
