About
Wishon Campground occupies a densely forested spot across the road from Bass Lake in the Sierra National Forest's Bass Lake Ranger District. At 3,400 feet elevation, the camp features stands of manzanita, oak, cedar, and pine that provide excellent shade throughout the day. Thick undergrowth between sites offers more privacy than many developed Forest Service campgrounds. Some sites along the lake side have filtered views of the water. Bass Lake is a popular recreation destination offering a beach and boat ramp. Swimming, motorized boating, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, sailing, and fishing are all accessible from the area. The lake holds bass, trout, bluegill, and catfish. Nearby hiking trails include Willow Creek (2.7 miles), Goat Mountain (2.6 miles), Spring Cove (2.6 miles), and the Way-of-the-Mono Interpretive Trail (1 mile). Miller's Landing Resort adjacent to the campground provides additional services including a general store, pay showers, laundry facilities, and a restaurant. Yosemite National Park's South Entrance is approximately 24 miles away.
