About
Fish Creek Campground is a small, primitive campground surrounded by mountains and nestled along Fish Creek in Sierra National Forest's Bass Lake Ranger District. At 3,400 feet elevation, the campground sits in a shaded setting beneath oak and pine trees on the western slope of the central Sierra Nevada. Sites include both standard and tent-only options, with large flat areas suitable for tents. The campground provides access to the French Trail, a 12.7-mile footpath extending from Squaw Dome Trailhead to Logan Meadow Trailhead. Fishing is available in Fish Creek, and hunting is permitted in designated areas. The nearby Mammoth Pool Reservoir offers additional recreational opportunities including boating, fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The area is known for its bald and golden eagles, and the 83-mile Sierra Vista Scenic Byway is a popular drive. Access is via Highway 41 north from Fresno, then northeast on Forest Road 200 through North Fork, and east on Minarets Road for 19 miles. Both paved and dirt roads provide campground access.
Directions
From Fresno take Highway 41 north to Forest Road 200. Turn right and travel east through North Fork. Continue on Minarets Road (Forest Road 81) for 19 miles to the campground.
