About

Rock Creek Campground occupies a large, sandy flat beneath a canopy of oak, pine and cedar trees in the Sierra National Forest. The campground is uniquely divided into three sections, with Rock Creek flowing through the middle. One section sits nearest the access road, while the other two sections are accessed via a bridge over the creek. The largest section is positioned closest to the swimming holes and natural rock water slide that make this area particularly popular during summer months. The campground provides convenient access to Mammoth Pool Reservoir, offering additional opportunities for fishing, boating and hiking. Located near the Ansel Adams Wilderness, the area is known for its dramatic mountain scenery, including 13,157-foot Mt. Ritter, along with numerous alpine lakes and streams. The campground sits along the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway, an 83-mile driving route showcasing some of the Sierra National Forest's most striking landmarks. Each campsite includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Parking spurs feature a combination of paved and dirt surfaces. The terrain ranges from rolling, oak-covered foothills to heavily forested middle elevation slopes and the stark alpine landscape of the High Sierra.
