Prospect Bluff Historic Site Closure Order
Authorities and Geographic Applicability. Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.53(c), this Forest Order: (1) Closes the Prospect Bluff Historic Site in its entirety for the preservation of objects or areas of historical, archaeological, geological, or paleontological interest.

About
West Tower Hunt Camp is a primitive camping facility located in the northwest portion of Osceola National Forest, approximately 6 miles from State Road 441 near Lake City. This free, year-round campground serves as a central recreation hub for outdoor enthusiasts exploring the forest. The site provides basic amenities and functions as a designated hunt camp, with camping restricted to this location during general gun season from mid-November to early January. The campground features a large flat grassy camping area as well as individual sites within the forest, each equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. West Tower is particularly popular with equestrian campers, offering horse stalls and direct access to more than 50 miles of interconnected equestrian trail loops. The campground also provides access to the Florida National Scenic Trail for hikers and backpackers seeking a more remote wilderness experience. As a primitive facility, campers should come prepared for basic conditions and be self-sufficient. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. During hunting season, all visitors must possess appropriate state licenses and follow Osceola National Forest hunting regulations.
