About
West Tower Hunt Camp is a primitive campground located in the northwest section of Osceola National Forest, approximately 6 miles from State Road 441 in Lake City, Florida. The camp provides a rustic outdoor experience with basic amenities including drinking water available from a hand pump, flush toilets, and parking. Horse camping facilities include stalls for equestrian visitors. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for multiple recreational activities. The Florida National Scenic Trail passes through the area for backpacking and day hiking opportunities. The West Tower Equestrian Trails offer four interconnected loops totaling over 50 miles through the scenic forest, ranging from a 5-mile novice trail to longer routes for experienced riders. Wildlife viewing is also popular in this area. During Florida's general gun hunting season (typically mid-November to early January), camping throughout the forest is restricted to designated hunt camps like West Tower and Ocean Pond Campground. Outside of hunting season, the campground operates year-round. A 14-day camping limit applies.
