Special Weather Statement issued May 3 at 2:50AM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL
Patchy to areas of locally dense fog have developed across portions of inland southeast Georgia and northern portions of the Suwannee Valley overnight. This fog may expand somewhat across the rest of the Suwannee Valley through around sunrise. Visibilities may occasionally be reduced below one half mile for these locations through the early morning hours on Sunday. Motorists overnight and early on Sunday morning should remain alert for sudden changes in visibility, especially in low spots and near marshes, rivers, creeks or lakes. If driving, slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.
About
Cobb Hunt Camp offers a primitive camping experience in the heart of Osceola National Forest. This spacious camping area sits under tall pines and serves as an ideal base camp for hunting groups or individuals seeking solitude in Florida's deep forest. The campground is strategically located between Ocean Pond and the historic Olustee Battlefield, with direct access to the Florida National Scenic Trail for backpackers and day hikers. This 67-unit primitive camp can accommodate both tents and RVs, with some sites large enough for bigger rigs up to approximately 40 feet, though those in larger motorhomes should avoid going too far into the camping area. Some spots feature picnic tables and fire pits. The area is popular with hikers looking to venture off-trail to find secluded spots away from civilization. Campers should come prepared for a true primitive experience with no drinking water available on-site. Portable toilets are provided during hunting season. The camp is located on Forest Road 235, approximately half a mile north of the intersection with County Road 250-A. General gun season runs from mid-November to early January, and during this period all camping in the forest is restricted to designated hunt camps like Cobb. Bright, visible clothing is recommended during hunting season.
