About
Seventeen Mile Hunt Camp provides a rugged, primitive camping experience at the southeastern edge of Big Gum Swamp Wilderness within Osceola National Forest in Baker County, Florida. This dispersed camping area emphasizes solitude and self-reliance, making it ideal for experienced campers seeking to escape developed campgrounds. The camp operates as a no-fee, no-reservation primitive area. There is no potable water, no restroom facilities, and campers must bring all supplies and pack out all trash. The site is particularly popular during Florida's hunting seasons, and a valid state hunting license is required for hunting activities. A 14-day camping limit applies to all dispersed camping in the forest. Given its primitive nature, visitors should assess their skills and abilities before visiting. The surrounding Big Gum Swamp Wilderness offers opportunities for exploration, but the swampy terrain and lack of amenities demand preparation and outdoor experience.
