About
West Point Recreation Area sits on the shores of the 411-acre Mondeaux Flowage within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. This rustic campground offers 15 well-spaced sites nestled among northern Wisconsin's hardwood and conifer forests, with several sites providing direct lake access. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, and access to vault toilets and potable water. The Mondeaux Flowage is popular for fishing musky, largemouth bass, northern pike, and panfish. A boat ramp is located about two miles away on Forest Road 106. Swimming and ice fishing are also common activities. The 1,200-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail traverses the campground, offering excellent hiking opportunities that trace the edges of the historic glacier that once covered Wisconsin. Nearby attractions include the Mondeaux Picnic Area at Mondeaux Dam Recreation Area, just a couple miles away. The campground is first-come, first-served only, with no reservations accepted. Most sites are spacious back-in style, with some exceeding 45 feet in length. ATVs and UTVs are prohibited, and firewood must be sourced from within 25 miles of the campsite.
