About
Picnic Point Campground is a peaceful group camping destination located along the western shore of the 411-acre Mondeaux Flowage in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The campground features one large group tent site nestled under towering pine trees, accommodating up to 35 people. The site can be reserved as an entire campground or individual sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis when not reserved. The rustic nature of the campground draws campers seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of nearby towns. The campground sits right on the edge of the scenic lake where boats can be anchored. A nearby boat ramp provides access to Mondeaux Flowage, which, although rather shallow, is popular for swimming and fishing for musky, pan fish, largemouth bass, and pike. The area offers excellent hiking opportunities, including access to the 1,200-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail and the Aldo Leopold Trail near Mondeaux Dam Lodge. The city of Medford is located about 18 miles away for services and supplies.
