About

Lake of the Pines Campground is a rustic family campground situated within Flambeau River State Forest in Sawyer County. The campground features 30 non-electric campsites shaded by a mature maple canopy along a low ridge on the shore of the 273-acre Lake of the Pines. The lake offers excellent fishing for musky, walleye, largemouth bass, and panfish, with a scenic backdrop of hilly terrain covered in birch, pines, and hardwoods. The campground provides essential amenities including two vault toilet buildings, hand pump water access, garbage and recycling stations, and a boat launch with direct access to Lake of the Pines. A designated swimming beach is located nearby, and campers can explore the 0.5-mile nature trail that winds through the forest. All campsites include a fire ring and picnic table. Operating from mid-April through mid-December, the campground accommodates tents, trailers, and RVs up to 45 feet. All sites are available for advance reservation through the Wisconsin State Forest system. In case of heavy snow, only the lower loop is plowed for winter access.
